The column is cast one piece, adequately ribbed. The spindle of the grinding machines is quill type and motorized to escape pulleys and belts. Cross feed is through an precise nut and screw, calibrated in divisions of 0.05 mm and the vertical feed is calibrated in divisions of 0.10 mm. Longitudinal travel is from rack and pinion. The motors employed in the grinding machines are dynamically balanced of 5 micron pack to pack.
